Stanley or popularly known as Port Stanley is the capital of Falkland Islands, a self governing British overseas territory. Cruise passengers do not need a visa to enter Falkland Islands. Sea pass card is enough. But to visit by air, a valid UK visa is needed to enter.
It is located so remote that finding flight to this island is very expensive. The tour guide said to fly from UK it costs 2000GBP for round trip flight. The nearest country is Argentina. But British and Argentina had war on the ownership of this territory. So no flights to Argentina from here though the guide said based on recent peace agreements some plans are going on to be implemented near future.
So the most of the visitors to this Island is from Cruise only. Along with our cruise another big cruise also arrived on Port Stanley so there was lot of tourists everywhere and sightseeing buses running without break.
